Answers to common questions about sizing, fabrics, gift cards, and ordering
Vintage silhouettes are designed with specific proportions in mind — often a more defined waist-to-hip ratio than modern ready-to-wear. We provide detailed size guides with each garment listing, including bust, waist, hip, and length measurements. We recommend measuring yourself and comparing to our size chart rather than relying on your usual dress size, as vintage-inspired sizing can differ from contemporary standards.
For fit-and-flare and structured bodice styles, we generally recommend sizing up if you are between sizes, as the waist seam is the most critical fit point and is more difficult to adjust than the skirt. For shift dresses and wrap styles, which have more inherent flexibility, sizing to your bust or hip measurement (whichever is larger) typically works well. If you have specific questions about a particular garment, contact us at info@decadedress.com.
Our current collection spans a range of sizes — please refer to the individual product listings for available sizes in each style. We are working to expand our size range across the collection. If a style you are interested in is not available in your size, contact us at info@decadedress.com and we will note the interest for future production planning.
Measure your full bust (around the fullest part of the chest with arms relaxed), natural waist (the narrowest point of your torso, typically about an inch above the navel), and full hips (the widest point, typically 7–9 inches below the natural waist). Use a soft measuring tape and measure snugly but not tightly. Compare these measurements to the size chart on each product page, not to a generic size label.
We use a range of modern fabrics selected to approximate the look and drape of period textiles while adding stretch and breathability. Common materials include stretch cotton sateen, ponte knit, stretch crepe, and woven polyester blends with elastane content. Each product listing specifies the fabric composition and care instructions for that particular garment.
Our garments are inspired by and closely reference specific silhouettes, details, and print styles from each decade rather than being exact copies of specific original garments. We work from archival photographs, pattern references, and period fashion documentation to develop designs that are faithful to the aesthetic of each era. Modern adaptations — such as updated fabrics, hidden zippers, and stretch panels — are incorporated where they improve wearability without compromising the visual accuracy of the design.
Our prints are developed digitally from archival references and then produced via high-quality digital fabric printing, which allows for accurate color reproduction and fine detail. This process also allows us to produce prints in smaller runs, enabling a wider variety of patterns in our collection without minimum quantity constraints.
Care instructions vary by fabric. Most of our stretch woven pieces can be machine washed on a gentle cycle in cold water and laid flat or hung to dry. Fully lined pieces or those with structured bodices may require hand washing. Always refer to the care label attached to your specific garment for guidance. Ironing on a low setting with a pressing cloth is safe for most of our fabrics.

Gift cards make an excellent present for vintage fashion enthusiasts. Contact us at info@decadedress.com to arrange a gift card purchase. The recipient can use the code at checkout on any order. Gift cards carry no expiration date and can be applied to any item in our collection.
We accept returns and exchanges within 30 days of delivery for items in unworn, unwashed condition with original tags attached. Because vintage-inspired sizing can vary, we encourage customers to review size charts carefully before ordering. If a size doesn't work, we're happy to assist with an exchange. Contact us at info@decadedress.com to initiate a return or exchange.
